Maria Markusen is a seasoned C-suite executive and multi-board director with 20 years of senior leadership experience across Healthcare, Senior Living, Retail, Consumer Packaged Goods and Manufacturing. Over her career she has held every C-Suite executive role and has served on the boards of four companies over 14 years, guiding portfolios through high-growth, transformation and turnaround environments.
She currently serves as President at Pacha Soap Company and at Welcome to Our Home, where she also holds the role of Chief Financial Officer. She continues to sit on the boards of Pacha Soap Company, the Healthcare Financial Consortium, Sholdit and Brobe International, contributing governance oversight, capital strategy and operational discipline across a diverse mix of consumer, healthcare and lifestyle businesses.
Earlier in her career, Maria served as Chief Operating Officer at Simply Retail, Simply Shoppes and The VGM Group, where she also led corporate strategy as Director of Strategy. She held senior commercial leadership as VP of Sales & Marketing at Assisted Living Concepts (now Enlivant) and at Sunrise Senior Living, where she was part of the leadership team that took Assisted Living Concepts private and subsequently sold to TPG, and led the integration of Marriott Senior Living into Sunrise Senior Living across 275 locations.
Maria has also created a new supplier category within healthcare — Healthcare Retail and Caretailing — and has led the turnaround of a CPG manufacturer that attracted investment from Whole Foods Market and Bain Capital. Across her career she has raised more than $250M in capital and consulted on 120 M&A deals, combining strategic, operational and financial fluency with a pragmatic approach to value creation.
Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts from Carthage College and a Postgraduate Business Law degree from the Minnesota Paralegal Institute.
