Jonathan Hall is an Independent Board Director and Investment & M&A Advisor with nearly three decades of experience in private equity, venture capital and corporate finance. He combines hands-on deal execution, deep emerging-markets knowledge and proven boardroom judgement, having led or contributed to transactions exceeding $2 billion across the Middle East, India, Turkey and Asia Pacific. His track record spans the full investment lifecycle, from origination through exit.
As a founding member of Abraaj Capital, Jonathan helped build the firm from $30 million of initial capital to over $5 billion in assets under management, executing more than 20 transactions and serving on multiple portfolio company boards. He departed in 2010 to establish Mulverhill Associates, his own advisory and investment firm, and now also serves as Partner, Europe & Middle East at Potentia Inc, a London-headquartered food and agribusiness advisor and investor.
Jonathan brings a practitioner’s perspective to boardroom dialogue. He understands governance as a tool for value creation, not as a compliance exercise. His contribution to a board spans investment strategy and capital allocation, M&A and corporate development, governance and board effectiveness, growth and transformation, and investor relations and fundraising. He has held 15+ portfolio company board positions, sat on multiple investment committees, and currently provides board advisory to an ADX-listed services company.
Jonathan holds a BA (Hons) and MA in Japanese Studies from Downing College, Cambridge University, complemented by Corporate Finance and Financial Accounting Certificates from the CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment), London. More recently he has built ESG and climate-finance credentials, earning a Forest Carbon Credits & Initiatives Certificate from Michigan State University and a Conscious Investor Fellowship from StartAD, VentureSouq and the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency. He has lived and worked across London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Dubai and Cyprus.
