Steven Holden is a distinguished Managing Director and investment banker with over 30 years originating, structuring and executing M&A, corporate finance advisory, capital raising and structured finance transactions across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the United Kingdom. Renowned for building and leading high-performing corporate finance platforms, he has advised on more than $11 billion in aggregate deal value and generated multi-million-dollar retainer and success fee income across a career spanning boutique founder-led firms, major global banks and structured finance platforms. His experience working with large multinationals through to start-ups brings a unique perspective to his clients.
Steven has cultivated deep institutional investor relationships across banks, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, insurers, private equity, private credit, venture capital, family offices and high-net-worth investors — giving him unusual reach for a boutique founder and a distinctive edge when acting in both sell-side and buy-side roles, in cross-border transactions, complex capital structures and special situations. He is currently Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Perseus Management, a global boutique providing M&A, capital raising and corporate finance advice to mid-market clients, where he has raised capital for, and advised on, transactions exceeding $3 billion. Steven is also an investor in, and consultant to, several cross-border companies in the technology sector.
Earlier, as Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sirius Capital Partners, Steven raised founding equity and scaled the platform globally, raising $370 million for his clients and building a pipeline in excess of $3.5 billion. As Managing Director, EMEA for Babcock & Brown he led the region’s semiconductor, electronics and photovoltaic structured finance platform, deploying $340 million, prior to the bank’s demise in 2009. He has also held senior origination, structured finance and leasing leadership roles at GE Capital, HP Financial Services and Macquarie Bank across London, Sydney, Singapore, Chicago, San Diego, New York and Auckland.
Steven holds a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury, and has completed the Accelerated Leadership Program at GE Crotonville and the ACIS Professional Program in London. He is a member of the Institute of Directors, the Chartered Governance Institute and the Australian Institute of Banking & Finance, and is based in Auckland, New Zealand with global coverage.
