Martin P. Orbesen is a corporate development, corporate finance, venture capital and private equity professional with more than 25 years of international experience, primarily across Northern Europe, the Middle East (GCC) and Asia. He has been responsible for the origination and execution of more than 300 transactions and investments — principally Direct Investments, Mergers & Acquisitions and Equity Capital Transactions — valuing more than €30 billion, with individual transaction sizes ranging from €50 million to €1 billion.
In 2010 he founded EUME Capital, an advisory and investment platform created to allow senior corporate finance and private equity professionals to operate independently, focused on transactions and investments between the Middle East and Europe as a highly trusted advisor. The platform and its investments were funded by two high-net-worth individuals from royal families in the Middle East. Martin led the business as Founder and Managing Partner from Q4 2010 through Q1 2026, concluding with the sale of the platform to a financial institution seeking expansion in the Middle East.
Prior to founding EUME Capital, Martin held senior transaction leadership roles across three regions: Director of Transaction Advisory and Head of Sovereign Wealth Funds at KPMG in the Middle East; Director of Mergers & Acquisitions at Visor Capital in Asia; and Director of Corporate Finance, Transaction Lead Advisory Services at Ernst & Young in the Middle East. The earlier part of his career, from 1994 to 2005, was spent with investment banks and private equity funds in Europe (Paris and Copenhagen) and the United States (New York), progressing from Analyst to Senior Project Manager and Vice President. Across his career he has built and led meritocratic teams and cultivated in-depth relationships with client companies, international financial intermediaries and business service firms, regulators in multiple jurisdictions, family groups, private equity and venture capital houses, and sovereign wealth funds.
His transaction experience spans Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity Capital Transactions, Restructurings, Privatisations, Direct Investments and Asset deals, executed globally but primarily across the Middle East, Asia and Europe. Working in emerging and frontier markets has given him depth in business planning, financial modelling, business development and business strategy.
Martin is a member of the advisory boards of a number of private equity funds and family groups, and serves as a Special Advisor to the European Union Commission on innovation and its commercialisation. He has also advised the UK Government on the establishment of a financial market for the funding of space exploration. He is a keynote speaker at conferences across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe, covering IPOs in emerging markets, investment and business opportunities in emerging markets, and advanced structuring mechanisms.
He holds a dual Master of Business Administration in Corporate Finance and Corporate Law (1995), obtained from Copenhagen Business School, Copenhagen University, Albany Law School and Rensselaer School of Management in cooperation with Harvard Business School, and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at INSEAD. He is a native Danish speaker, business fluent in English, with working knowledge of Swedish, Norwegian, German and French. He is based in the Capital Region of Denmark and is able to relocate globally.
